BEEASY ACCESS c. £11,000 Fund-raising Worked started 2022. 1/4 plots,trugs, and Solar Power.
Reason: (a) To have solar power to (i) give some light to the entrance to the site, (ii) enable the on-site Community Shop to be lit during Autumn and Winter (when it has to close currently as too dark), and (iii) enable the use of small kitchen appliances in the Community Hut; and
(b) To give easier access growing areas to plot holders experiencing reduced energy, flexibility or mobility due to the passing years or health. Keep people growing their own food for longer.
Aim: Retain tenants on the allotments who may leave due to decreasing mobility and increase the potential for growing areas for new plot holders who need raised trugs.
Completion: The first #BeEasyAccess plot holders took up their trowels in September 2022. The solar lighting panels up and ready for switch on in October 2022.

showing the area of potential for accessible toilet at weaste allotments ACCESSIBLOO Funding £ t.b.c. Creation planned 2023. A secure easy access raised toilet with sink.

Reason: There are two basic toilets on the site with separate hand washing facilities in the Communal Hut. Locks are slide bolt which are difficult for some to use. The pans and seats are low level. All facilities are self-managed and cleaned.
Aim: Create a toilet with easier access than slide bolts, higher seat height and assistance rails with washing facilities in the same unit. Makes it easier for a number of existing plot-holders and ready for new plot-holders who may find existing toilet facilities a challenge.
